Welcome to Playible’s fantasy sports platform! Here, you can join free fantasy baseball games and win prizes in USDC (and maybe other rewards too).

What Is Fantasy Baseball (MLB)?

In traditional fantasy baseball, you manage a team of real Major League Baseball (MLB) players. You choose who plays and who doesn’t, and you get points based on their real-life game performance.

We’re bringing fantasy sports to the digital world. When you own a player’s NFT, you can use it until they retire. For example, if you get Mike Trout in a pack, you can use Trout’s NFT in games until he retires.

Our games are like other Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) sites, such as DraftKings or FanDuel, but you’ll need to own a player’s NFT to play with them. That means not everyone can play with top players like Justin Verlander or Jacob deGrom.

Now, let’s learn about the different parts of fantasy baseball.

What Is a Fantasy Baseball Lineup?

To join a game, you need a complete 10-player lineup. Your lineup will have players from different positions.

Start with two pitchers.

Next, choose five infielders: a catcher, first base, second base, third base, and shortstop.

Next, pick two outfielders. They can be from any outfield position. For example, you could have Byron Buxton and Ramon Laureano in the same lineup, even though they all play center field.

Finally, pick a designated hitter. This can be a hitter from any position except pitcher (C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF).

Then enter your new team!

How Do I Know What Position My Athlete NFT Plays?

Players on Playible can only play in the position shown on their NFT. So, if a player’s NFT says they’re a second baseman, they can only play that position, no matter where they play in real life.

Shohei Ohtani is a special case because he’s a great pitcher and hitter. He is currently only available as a designated hitter on Playible’s platform, even though he pitches frequently.

How Do Athlete NFTs Score Fantasy Points?

There are two ways to score points. Hitters get points for their specific stats, and pitchers get points for theirs. Pitchers don’t get points for hitting, and hitters don’t get points for pitching. Pitchers can lose points, but hitters can’t.

Below is how fantasy points are allocated in our scoring system:

How Long Do Playible’s Fantasy Baseball Contests Last?

Our main fantasy contests will span one week. If a contest starts on Sunday, it will end on Saturday. Your lineup will receive fantasy points for every game played over that time span.

We also have “Stolen Base” contests, which only last a few days. These are quicker but include half the rewards of their longer counterparts.

Each Athlete NFT will be locked into a single contest. You cannot enter multiple contests with an individual NFT.

At the end of the contest, your Athlete NFTs will unlock and you can enter a new contest.

What Happens if Games are Suspended, Postponed, or Shortened?

Players get points for any games played during the game week.

For example, if a game starts on Sunday, April 17, and ends on Saturday, April 23, but Max Scherzer’s game on April 23 is postponed, he won’t get points for that game.

If Scherzer pitches for six innings before his game is postponed due to bad weather, he’ll get points for those six innings. The same goes for hitters like Pete Alonso. They’ll get points for the part of the game they played.

Players only get points for games or innings played within the game week.

Prize Pools

Each week, Playible has up to $500 USDC up for grabs. At the end of the season, Playible will host its annual Baseball Championship.

The Playible Baseball Championship

Our fantasy Baseball Championship is a two-week event near the end of the season. Unlimited teams can enter and will compete for the top 25 spots. Those 25 teams will advance at the end of the first week and compete for cash prizes during the second week.

The championship will have two separate weeks for scoring fantasy points. The first week will be a total score for each of the seven days for all teams. The second week will restart, and the remaining 25 teams can submit a new lineup. This lineup will be locked for the second week, and that will record a cumulative score over those seven days.

The 25 teams will be ranked based on their fantasy scores for the second week. This will be the final leaderboard for the championship.

The Top 10 will win cryptocurrency prizes.

Below is the payout structure for the Fantasy Baseball Championship:

PlacePayout
1st$4,000
2nd$2,000
3rd$1,000

In case of a tie, the two teams will split the prizes for those two places.
