Promotional packs grant recipients a limited, one-time only free trial to test Playible’s industry-leading NFT fantasy sports platform.
Similar to Starter packs, each Promotional pack contains enough Athlete NFTs to construct a full lineup (ex. 1 QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 SuperFlex for Football). But Promotional packs can only enter a single contest with real cryptocurrency prizes (see below to read more about how Promotional packs and Starters packs differ).
For more on how Playible’s fantasy football contests work, see our how-to guide here.
Each Athlete NFT in a Promotional pack has one “play” (see below to read more about plays), and when that play is used up, the Athlete NFT will no longer be allowed to enter fantasy sports contests again. It is effectively burned, and the free trial is over.
What Are ‘Plays’?
Plays are used to determine whether or not an Athlete NFT has the ability to enter contests with cryptocurrency prize pools. For each play an Athlete NFT has remaining, it can enter the same number of prize pool contests (or PPCs).
For example, if Bob has a Patrick Mahomes Athlete NFT with six plays remaining, he can enter six more PPCs without restriction. Each Athlete NFT can only be entered in one contest each week, so Bob can use his Patrick Mahomes Athlete NFT for at least six more weeks of contests.
After his sixth PPC entry, Bob will have zero plays remaining, and his Patrick Mahomes Athlete NFT will only be eligible for freeroll contests (or FRCs). FRCs do not require plays to enter, and select winners are awarded new plays for all the Athlete NFTs used in the entrant’s lineup.
If Bob enters his Patrick Mahomes Athlete NFT with zero remaining plays into a FRC and wins, he will be awarded one new play to his Patrick Mahomes Athlete NFT and the rest of the Athlete NFTs he used to create his team. These Athlete NFTs can now be entered into PPCs the next week.
How Are Promotional Packs Different Than Starter Packs?
Playible’s Promotional packs are intended to give users a brief glimpse at how Starter packs work. They’re basically the same, but Promotional packs are limited to one play per Athlete NFT. After that one play is used, the pack and the Athlete NFTs are burned.
Starter packs are never burned. Athlete NFTs contained within Starter packs last forever and can always be used to enter our freeroll contests to earn more plays. Promotional Athlete NFTs do not have this capability.
Starter packs can also be sold and traded on secondary marketplaces. Athlete NFTs inside Starter packs can be bought, sold, or traded on secondary marketplaces, too. Promotional packs are not intended for purchase, sale, or transfer and will not be accessible on secondary marketplaces.
Think of Promotional packs as a limited, one-time free trial. Once that free trial expires, users will have to purchase Starter packs to truly experience Playible’s platform to its fullest.
Do Promotional Packs Dilute Weekly Prize Pools?
No. Each Promotional pack is monetarily backed 100 percent by Playible. Upon entry into a prize pool contest (PPC), the Promotional pack Athlete NFTs will increase the overall prize pool amount, just like a standard Starter pack Athlete NFT.
What Happens When the Promotional Packs Are Used?
Once Promotional packs are opened and the Athlete NFTs inside are used, the NFTs are burned forever (or otherwise ineligible to enter new contests).
Can I Buy, Sell, or Trade Promotional Packs?
No. Promotional packs serve as a free trial for Playible’s fantasy sports platform. They are not intended to be bought, sold, or traded. They will not be available on secondary marketplaces, nor will be Athlete NFTs inside the Promotional packs.
How Can I Tell if a Pack Is Promotional?
Each Promotional pack and Athlete NFTs included in Promotional packs will include the word “PROMOTIONAL” in its title and description. Promotional packs also have a visible “PROMOTIONAL” sticker located toward the bottom, right-hand side of its image.
